Cervical Cancer
Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer is a cancer of the lower portion of the uterus called the cervix.
Almost all cervical cancer is caused by a virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which is transmitted through sexual intercourse.
There exist both preventative measures, such as a vaccine, as well as, screening mechanisms, such as a PAP Smear and HPV testing, which can, not only, diagnose cervical cancer, but also its precursors.
This allows for treatment before cancer ever develops.
